Nomination Process for Students

Required Documents

  • Learning Agreement Proposal
  • Copy of passport or ID
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Transcript of Records

Nomination Steps

Step 1: Your home university nominates you by sending your documents to the International Relations Office (iuz@tu-chemnitz.de)

Step 2: You will receive an acceptance letter

Step 3: The acceptance letter includes information about visa requirements (if applicable) and temporary residence procedures

Step 4: Complete registration and course enrollment

Accommodation

University Dormitories

Accommodation is provided by the Student Dormitory Administration (Studentenwerk Chemnitz) for both long-term and short-term stays. Multiple facilities are available throughout the city of Chemnitz.

Various hostels, boarding houses, and private rooms are available throughout the city.

Common platforms for finding accommodation in Germany include WG-Gesucht and Immobilienscout24.

Health Insurance

EU/EEA Citizens

Health insurance is mandatory for all exchange students.

  • European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is accepted
  • May also opt for private insurance if needed

Non-EU Citizens

Health insurance is mandatory during the entire stay.

  • Must obtain private health insurance
  • Insurance must cover medical treatments and hospitalization

Visa and Temporary Residence

EU/EEA Citizens

EU/EEA citizens are free to move and reside in Germany.

Registration with local authorities may be required.

Non-EU Citizens

Non-EU students require a student visa. Required documents typically include:

  • Acceptance letter from university
  • Proof of financial means
  • Health insurance documentation
  • Valid passport
