The history of the urban development of Bialystok in the 18th century. (Across – ALU)

Description

Białystok is a city in north-eastern Poland. It underwent an intensive period of development in the 18th century. These changes were initiated by the city\’s owner, Hetman Jan Klemens Branicki. During the Baroque period, he transformed it into a residential area near a palace and garden complex. Thanks to these efforts, Białystok earned the nickname \’the Versailles of the North\’. Evidence of the city\’s Baroque architecture can still be seen in Białystok today. It is currently home to the Białystok University of Technology, one of the partners of the Across European University project. The lecture will be presented in hybrid form, both physically at the University of Banja Luka (an Across partner) and online. All Across students, as well as students from partner universities studying architecture, landscape architecture, spatial planning and related fields, are invited to attend the lecture. The lecture\’s topic is \’Culture, identity and heritage\’ in the area of cooperation.
